Course Overview:
During the week, you will explore a comprehensive curriculum that revolved around safety, WorkSafe BC, and industry standards. Our hands-on approach ensures that you gain practical experience quickly and effectively. Here's what you'll learn:
Day 1 and Day 2: Basic Training for Tree Climbers (2 Days)
Safety Precautions and Gear Inspection: Learn the ABCs of safety gear and its proper usage, ensuring a secure and comfortable climbing experience.
Knot Tying and Rope Techniques: Discover essential knots and rope handling techniques vital for ascending and descending trees with confidence.
Tree Selection and Assessment: Understand how to choose and evaluate trees for climbing, ensuring safety and minimizing environmental impact.
Accessing trees: Learn how to get your rope into trees safely and easily.
Ascent and Descent Techniques: Practice various climbing methods, from moving rope systems to single-rope techniques, enabling you to navigate trees effectively.
Safe Work Practices: Explore crucial safety protocols during climbing tasks, emphasizing the importance of safe and responsible practices.
Environmental Stewardship: Embrace the ethos of preserving trees and minimizing ecological impact while enjoying the thrill of tree climbing.
Practical Climbing Exercises: Put your newly acquired knowledge to the test in supervised hands-on climbing sessions, experiencing both single rope systems and moving rope systems under expert guidance.
Day 3: Aerial Rescue (1 Day) + Online Module
1. Online Aerial Rescue Core Classroom (Pre-Training):
Access to online modules covering incident prevention, emergency response, rescue techniques, and casualty care.
2. Practical Training (1-Day Session):
Aerial Rescue theory
Rescuing casualties who have functioning climbing systems
Rescuing casualties who do not have functioning climbing systems
Spar pole rescues
Building rescuable basal anchors for both SRS and MRS
Aerial lift ground control rescues
Aerial lift self rescues
Day 4: Chainsaw Operations and Safe Work Practices (1 Day)

Day 5: Aerial Lift and Basic Rigging (1 Day)
