This two-day course offers a practical and in-depth introduction to plant appraisal, guided by the CTLA Guide for Plant Appraisal, 10th Edition. Designed with real-world application in mind, the course focuses on the Cost Approach, preparing participants to conduct appraisals that are both reasonable and defensible.
Participants will gain working knowledge of widely used techniques and a clear understanding of how to apply them in a variety of settings—from private properties to municipal landscapes.

Pre-Course: One week of online access to key reading and resources
Day 1: Classroom-based lecture, case studies, and guided field activities
Day 2: Field data collection, appraisal exercises, exam review, and written test
Post-Course: Take-home assignment involving two plant appraisals (due within 2 weeks)
Certification Requirements:
Participants must score 80% or higher on both the in-class multiple-choice test and the take-home practical exam to receive a Certificate of Qualification from BC Plant Health Care.
